Cabinet Finisher Lead in  GAC St. Louis


Unique Skills:

Experience working on-aircraft touch-ups and repairs with different finishes required.

The compensation range for this role is $33.28 - $45.43 per hour.

Final compensation for this role will be determined by several factors including but not limited to: minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, and location.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 6 years experience in woodwork finishing. Experience in aerospace industry preferred. FAA A&P license or be able to obtain a repairman certificate within 30 days of start date.

Position Purpose:

Assists with the direction of activities for the finish shop by planning, scheduling, and accurately tracking work in flow. Works with Finish Shop supervision to ensure that manpower and material are available to meet aircraft schedules and ensures that all duties and responsibilities set forth in the repair station inspection procedures manual (IPM) are met. Mentors and trains other Cabinet Finishers and provide feedback on assigned employees for annual performance reviews.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Provides technical guidance, training, and leadership for all phases of the finish process ensuring that safety, quality, productivity, EPA, FAA, and schedule requirements are achieved and all duties and responsibilities set forth in the repair station inspection manual (IPM) are complied with.
  2. Monitors work to ensure compliance with design and engineering drawings and manufacturers recommendations for products used and that EPA and corporate HAZMAT regulations are followed.
  3. Assists the team as required. to achieve milestone dates and meet goals through proficient hands on work, guidance, ensuring required. equipment and material is available.
  4. Ensures that assigned technicians complete in accordance with FAA requirements and Gulfstream procedures all required. paperwork and documentation. Ensures that design and engineering drawings are used and followed. Coordinates with Design group to ensure compliance with customer approved design samples.
  5. Mentors and trains employees and provide feedback on assigned employees for annual performance reviews. .
  6. Leads efforts through a process of continuous improvement on existing techniques and procedures using Lean Six-Sigma initiatives and other process improvement techniques to improve safety, quality, and the reduction of man-hours, cost, and cycle time.
  7. Attends meetings as required. to review workflow, schedules and cost associated with assigned projects.

Additional Functions:
  1. Assists department supervision in translating department goals into objectives and activities that are understandable and achievable by all employees. By own example, sets standards for professionalism, communication, team building and recognition of team members. .
  2. Accomplishes weekly safety audits and assists team members in performing safety audits. .
  3. Assists in maintaining shop equipment and associated JSAs. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Possess a working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications.
  2. Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
  3. Must be computer literate.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
