Job Description
- Supports laboratory analyses related to hazardous materials, industrial wastewater and process requirements .
- Performs daily inspections of industrial wastewater treatment systems .
- Maintains State of Georgia Industrial WW Operator certification .
- Mixes chemicals and performs chemical additions to process tanks in a prescribed safe manner .
- Operates Reverse Osmosis equipment to ensure water quality .
- Performs preventive and light maintenance on departmental equipment and property .
- Operates WW treatment plant equipment (pumps, controllers, meters, sludge press, clarifiers, and peroxidation equipment) per established procedures to ensure treatment according to regulations .
- Maintains PQL certification for Process analyses. Supports process analyses required. by Quality Control and Engineering to comply with the required. specifications to also include Jet Fuel analyses and Oxygen tube cleaning solution testing/ maintenance .
- Reviews documentation; records instrument readings and test results; maintains logs of test results, meter checks, and other data .
- Exercises proficiency with SCADA software.
- Communicates with employees, other departments, contractors, vendors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work and activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems and give or receive advice/direction .
- Starts up and shuts down process treatment tanks .
- Exercises good safety and housekeeping practices .
- Daily contact with departmental employees to exchange to related information. Contact with Quality Control to verify process line specifications .
- Performs Waste oil analyses including flash points and chlorine content .
- Knowledge of U. S. DOT regulations pertaining to shipment of hazardous materials.
- Industrial plant experience including pump operations is required.
- Ability to use chemistry lab analytical equipment.
- Knowledge of water treatment equipment (reverse osmosis, ion exchange).
- Ability to perform chemical calculations and analyses.
- Forklift experience a plus.
