Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 8 years experience in aviation, manufacturing, or electronics. Experience in a lab environment preferred..

Position Purpose:

With very minimal supervision perform operation activities in support of experimental, structural, and flammability testing. Operation activities could utilize skillsets related to sheet metal, instrumentation/electrical, fabrication, calibrations, hydraulic/pneumatics, large structural elements, test execution, etc. Assist with training less experienced employees.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Utilizing various skills, assemble and maintain complex test lab fixture and equipment .
  2. Assemble, inspect, and repair complex test articles and specimens .
  3. Train less experienced employees .
  4. Assist with test executions .
  5. Comply with safety rules and procedures. Use protective equipment as required. and be alert for unsafe conditions. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk .
  6. Assist others in recognizing and correcting potential unsafe conditions .
  7. Understands the experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and WMs .
  8. Begins offering input to improving SOPs and WMs .
  9. Shows understanding of various systems and capabilities used throughout the lab .
  10. Interested in learning more systems than currently working with .
  11. Communicate as required. to receive and understand work assignments .
  12. Coordinating directly with test engineering as required.
  13. Provide status to their direct supervisor of progress or help needed on assigned projects .

Additional Functions:
  1. Ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications .
  2. Follow standard operating procedures when operating company and lab equipment .
  3. Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered .
  4. Implement and apply Lean/continuous improvement processes to all areas of responsibility .
  5. Properly use and maintain Company-provided tools and equipment. Return items to designated storage area after use .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics.
  2. Experience with basic hand tools.
  3. Experience with CAD packages and planning systems.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
