Technical Specialist II - Seat Design and Certification Engineer in GAC Savannah

DUTIES: Guide successful completion of new seating and interior engineering programs. Conceive research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services. Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues. Be consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field. Anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Approach problem solving balancing technical product, cost, and schedule. Work without appreciable direction with work being reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results. Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments and make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field and other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. Perform static and dynamic finite element analysis. Perform calibration and validation of analysis for business jet aircraft seating systems as per industry and government standards for seating structures and occupant protection. Prepare FE model report, validation test plan, and validation report for dynamic seats. Prepare seat test plans to collect data to support certification activities. Perform optimization and DOE studies using FEA tools for seats and interior monuments. Perform seat comfort studies, including subjective feedback and empirical data utilizing pressure mapping. Work collaboratively with internal engineering, certification, and supplier teams to support design and development of seat structures, restraints system, airbags, etc.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field required. Ten years of experience in job offered or a related position required, including experience with Finite Element Analysis, aircraft seating, and related certification and occupant protection requirements. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field and ten years of experience, Employer will except a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field and eight years of experience or a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field and six years of experience.
Must have legal authority to work in the U.S. EEOE.
