DUTIES: Work with systems engineering principles of requirements management, validation, verification, change management, process assurance, and functional integration. Improve upon current systems engineering processes and drive their use for future projects and programs. Create and maintain open communication channels with aircraft system owners and management to ensure the processes are understood and adhered in accordance with program objectives. Create specific milestones and deliverables that can be integrated and align with the overall program plan and schedule. Establish the requirements management database to meet program needs and systems engineering guidelines. Support periodic assessments of the aircraft and its systems against requirements management processes to ensure development assurance. Collaborate on the development of new technologies to support the continuous improvement (CI) of the systems engineering processes. Develop standards and guides for systems engineering processes and methods. Guide successful completion of major engineering programs or conceive research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of Gulfstream products and services. Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues. Be consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field. Anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Develop standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Approach problem solving by balancing technical product, cost, and schedule. Work without appreciable direction, having work reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results. Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field required. Ten years of experience in job offered or related engineering position required, including any experience with: the systems engineering principles of requirements management, validation, verification, change management, process assurance, and functional integration; product development experience in the aviation industry; working on clean sheet and derivative models from the early product definition phases up to the certification/in service phases; aircraft systems level development and certification including aircraft level systems requirements, aircraft system functions, and main operation modes/interfaces (systems integration); and systems level development including flight controls system requirements, system level functions, and main operation modes/interfaces. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and ten years of experience, Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and eight years of the above-listed experience or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and six years of the above-listed experience. Up to 25% national and international travel required.
