DUTIES: Work with design and development teams in propulsions systems engineering. Meet production deadlines to avoid costly rework/retrofitting in future phases of the aircraft development program. Work in the development, certification, and support of new products along the aircraft lifecycle. Guide successful completion of major engineering programs, particularly those related to engine and Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) systems. Conceive research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of company products and services. Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues. Be consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field. Anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Approach problem solving by balancing technical product, cost, and schedule. Work without appreciable direction, having work reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results. Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product. Support the Safety Management System (SMS) by working Continued Operational Safety (COS) tasks. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Automation and Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field required. Ten years of experience required in job offered or related engineering position, including any experience with: Continued Operational Safety; the certification of propulsion system features; the aircraft development lifecycle and certification process; the application of 14 CFR Part 25 certification; developing new compliance and qualification strategies; defining new means of compliance and certification requirements in support of new certification plan approvals; analyzing flight test data and performing design review using CATIA V5 to show compliance with certification requirements; serving as a liaison with engine and APU supplier and sub-tiers; interfacing with certification authority representatives; conducting revision certification reports in support of product changes; providing engineering support to address field issues; managing project integration and systems and structural interfaces with multi-disciplinary teams including suppliers; leading teams to accomplish design engineering work scopes; and with supplier technical management. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Automation and Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field and ten years of experience, Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Automation and Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field and eight years of the above-requested experience or a Ph.D. in Automation and Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field and six years of the above-requested experience.
