DUTIES: Interpret airplane-level requirements and design fly-by-wire control laws to meet those requirements. Develop, document, and inspect simulation models for the purposes of fly-by-wire control law design, analysis, and test. Develop tools in MATLAB/Simulink to support the evaluation of various control system operating modes. Support hardware in the loop testing of control laws and perform validation and verification of its requirements. Support lab and flight tests of fly-by-wire airplanes. Investigate open- and closed-loop control system problems, correctly determine root causes, and propose, implement, and test solutions. Assist with the planning, coordination, performance of design, analysis, and liaison engineering supporting the development and production of company products and services. Contribute to planning, developing, and coordinating of important engineering projects. Provide specialized technical assistance to team members. Use advanced techniques and modified extension of theories to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Determine and develop own approach to solutions within schedule and cost objectives. Work under limited supervision, with work only being reviewed for accuracy and consistency with meeting overall objectives. Act as liaison with representatives outside of the assigned group/area. Actively work to improve daily processes and ensure all work meets customer requirements. Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields in order to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of company product.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required. Five years of experience in aerospace industry research and development required as an Aerospace Engineer or related position, including any experience with closed-loop control system theory, MATLAB, and Simulink. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and five years of experience, Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and three years of the above-requested experience or a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and one year of the above-requested experience.
