This leadership position is responsible for providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and technical leadership for the Tech Ops Large Cabin Mechanical Team. The successful candidate will lead a team of highly skilled technicians and subject matter experts responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continued airworthiness of large-cabin aircraft mechanical and electromechanical systems. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, landing gear, flight controls, hydraulic systems, braking systems, powerplant systems, and water/waste systems.

This role drives technical excellence, safety, compliance, and operational effectiveness while ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer expectations. The leader will be responsible for developing team capability, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and serving as a key liaison among Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Customer Support organizations. The position requires the ability to assess complex technical challenges, guide root-cause investigations, facilitate timely corrective actions, and make sound operational decisions in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in aircraft maintenance, technical operations, or related aerospace environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of large-cabin aircraft mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to lead complex troubleshooting efforts and root-cause investigations while driving effective resolution strategies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, safety, and quality requirements applicable to aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Experience developing, mentoring, and empowering technical personnel to achieve operational and professional growth objectives.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information from maintenance manuals, engineering documentation, and operational directives.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in aviation maintenance, engineering technology, related curriculum required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 9 years aircraft related maintenance and operations experience to include supervisory/leadership experience. An A&P license, EASA B1/B2 or FlightSafety Master Technician certification and four (4) additional years of related aircraft experience may offset the degree.

Position Purpose:

Primary point of contact for internal and external customers and represents the Gulfstream Product Support network for both technical and non-technical situations. Manage and responsible for all aspects of the Technical Operations Group supervised. Under minimal direction, assists and supervises systems specialists who provide advice and guidance to the company and the customer on installation, service, repair, replacement, modification and maintenance of in-service Gulfstream aircraft and related support equipment. Assists and supervises systems specialists with regards to customer interaction, troubleshooting, and solving the entire spectrum of aircraft systems, support equipment, and operational problems pertaining to our in-service product. Conceive, develop, test, and evaluate new ways to improve the technical support effort.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Actively manage group to CIO, Organizational, EIP, and Contact Center goals to achieve stated objectives. Through the use of Lean methodology, identify & implement improvements to internal processes that will improve group efficiency and increase effectiveness.
  2. Maintain efficient turn-over/work assignment for after-hours/weekend and day personnel.
  3. Support AOG Report, including composition/distribution on time.
  4. Manage employee development and training plans; communicate performance expectations; conduct performance appraisals and make other personnel decisions as required.
  5. Exercise supervision over specific systems specialists to ensure department responsibilities are accomplished in a timely and professional manner.
  6. Provide problem resolution support by organizing and managing logistics, resources, and vendors to repair AOG aircraft regardless of location.
  7. Responds to in-flight emergency calls from operators by coordinating resources (Flight Ops, Engineering, etc.) and providing technical data and guidance during the event.
  8. Conducts in-depth system review to develop troubleshooting plans specific operator/aircraft needs. Directs and guides customers, Service Center, Field Service, and Customer Operational Readiness Reps on plan implementation and follow-through to Return To Service (RTS).
  9. Devise alternative approaches to solve complex aircraft system/support equipment operational conditions and originate new approached in one or more areas of field engineering.
  10. Review, investigate, and respond to correspondence received from Gulfstream operators, FSRs, and Fixed Base Operations to provide temporary or permanent repair drawings for damaged service aircraft in the field.
  11. Manages the Airborne Product Support aircraft 24/7 and dispatch the aircraft to support customers in the field.

Other Requirements:
  1. Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, technical manuals systems, and aircraft maintenance records system.
  2. Airframe and Powerplant license is preferred.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
