As a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer 3, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of suppliers supporting Gulfstream aircraft interiors and completions. Working closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams, you will drive supplier performance, lead quality improvement initiatives, and help ensure that interior systems, cabin avionics, appliances, and associated components meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

 

What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary quality liaison for suppliers supporting Gulfstream aircraft interiors, completions, cabin avionics systems, and related equipment.
  • Lead supplier quality activities throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Gulfstream requirements, regulatory standards, and approved quality systems.
  • Manage supplier performance through system, process, and product audits while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Drive effective Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes and ensure timely closure of supplier quality issues.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and supplier leadership teams to improve quality, reduce scrap, and enhance manufacturing and repair processes.
  • Lead supplier quality improvement projects with minimal supervision, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and APQP methodologies.
  • Assess and certify supplier quality systems, personnel, processes, and equipment against applicable standards and requirements.
  • Develop supplier scorecards, key performance indicators, and risk metrics to monitor supplier health and performance trends.
  • Facilitate supplier quality reviews and executive-level meetings to communicate progress, risks, and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Quality Engineers and other team members as needed.
  • Support acceptance testing programs, audit planning, and supplier quality assurance activities across the supply chain.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aviation Sciences, Quality Systems, or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Four (4) years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment, repair station, or overhaul facility.
  • Experience managing supplier quality programs and collaborating closely with suppliers.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, quality standards, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and driving quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of APQP principles and the ability to influence, coach, and train others.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with enterprise software and quality management tools.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Gulfstream Completions activities.
  • Experience with cabin avionics systems, aircraft interior systems, or cabin appliances.
  • Experience leading high-visibility, enterprise-level quality improvement projects.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification.
  • Experience as an FAA-recognized designee.
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, aviation sciences, quality systems, or a related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 4 years technical related experience in a manufacturing environment, or repair and overhaul facility.

Position Purpose:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for addressing all quality performance related concerns for suppliers throughout the product life cycle. The SQE works with suppliers to monitor the effectiveness of their Quality Management System and partners with key stakeholders such as Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to continuously improve supplier performance (increase lifecycle, reduce scrap, improve manufacturing/repair processes). This position requires leadership skills that would enable the SQE to drive major Quality improvement projects across functions with minimum supervision.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Performs all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely manner to support the supplier quality/inspection system. Ensures all aspects of the delivered/finished article is manufactured in accordance with approved quality system requirements and is certified as compliant to type design requirements or compliant with in-service limitations for Repair Station activities.
  2. Manages the compliance of supplier performance through the application of system, product and process audits in accordance with company policy and federal regulations.
  3. Certifies a supplier or assess supplier quality system, personnel, processes and equipment as required. to the applicable quality standards.
  4. Coordinates quality assurance program plans, monitors and modifies audit schedules, evaluates acceptance test programs, and quality engineering requirements of Gulfstream suppliers.
  5. Responsible for driving the Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) process for all Suppliers.
  6. Promotes the use of continuous improvement techniques and APQP principles at Suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control.

Additional Functions:
  1. Drives closed loop corrective action process and ensure timeliness and effectiveness of supplier CA plans. .
  2. Develops key metrics and score card measures that accurately depict supplier health from a risk and performance perspective. .
  3. Provides technical guidance and direction to subordinate level personnel. Oversees completion of assigned tasks of subordinate level Quality Engineers within functional groups. .
  4. Lead quality focus meetings to address supplier performance and to communicate progress to senior leadership. .

Other Requirements:
  1. An Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License may be used in combination with four years of related experience (in addition to the experience requirements below in lieu of the degree requirement.
  2. ASQ certification (CQE) and/or experience as a FAA recognized designee highly preferred.
  3. Understands and is able to apply and communicate to others: blueprints/specifications; Federal Aviation Regulations; Quality Control System Requirements; knowledge of manufacturing/fabrication techniques and processes.
  4. Computer literate; capable of working within the various software applications utilized throughout the enterprise.
  5. Experience in a Supplier Quality capacity highly desirable.
  6. Advanced knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles (certification preferred).
  7. Working knowledge of APQP principles and the ability to lead and train others related to the skillset.
