Unique Skills:

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Airframe stress experience including static and fatigue analysis of primary and secondary metallic structures in a product development environment.
  • Understanding of certification requirements to FAR Part 25 and EASA CS regulations.
  • Experience performing reliability assessments of airframe structures using hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis, and Gulfstream proprietary analysis tools.
  • Experience with detailed Static Analysis, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Analysis and FAA certification reporting.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for leading and executing engineering projects of major complexity within established scope, schedule, and budget constraints
  2. Plans, develops, and coordinates critical engineering activities, determining and implementing solutions using advanced engineering principles and independent judgment
  3. Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have a significant impact on program objectives and engineering activities
  4. Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise or specialized knowledge in structural analysis, fatigue, and damage tolerance
  5. Performs reliability assessments of airframe structures within the Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) group using hand calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and proprietary tools
  6. Prepares, reviews, and approves FAA certification reports related to Static analysis,  Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis of primary aircraft structures
  7. Leads the development and implementation of innovative engineering methods, tools, and analytical approaches
  8. Works under consultative direction, using independent judgment to accomplish objectives and resolve complex engineering issues
  9. Develops standards, methodologies, and best practices for diverse engineering activities within the stress and F&DT discipline
  10. Serves as a technical expert within the aerospace engineering field, advising and mentoring other engineers and contributing to team capability development
  11. Stays current with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in fatigue and damage tolerance and structural analysis
  12. Conducts and leads investigations in technically challenging areas where engineering precedents may be limited or unavailable
  13. Performs other duties as assigned


 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Other Requirements:
  1. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
  2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
