Sr Network Administrator

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or technology related field preferred. 7 years experience supporting network or voice operations.

Position Purpose:

Perform highly complex duties in the design, development, installation, upgrade, monitoring, and maintenance of the wired and wireless network infrastructure.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
2. Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
3. Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
4. Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
5. Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
6. Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
7. Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
8. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
9. Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data .

Other Requirements:

1. Solid understanding of advanced networking technologies, virtualization technologies, and solutions including MPLS, virtual route forwarding, virtual device contexts, multicast routing, BGP and EIGRP routing protocols, ether-channel, QoS, traffic-shaping, load balancing, VPN tunnels, WAN Optimization, etc.
2. Deep comprehension of networking concepts including network design principles, data flow determination, routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, etc.
3. Experience with network security practices and devices (Cisco ISE & ASA, Palo Alto), data center and low-latency network infrastructure (Cisco, Arista), packet sniffer operation and packet dissection (Wireshark, Ethereal, tcpdump, libpcap).
4. Position may require industry certification and skills training requirements.
5. Experience with enterprise class network management/monitoring systems is desired (ManageEngine, Solarwinds, Intune, NetScout, etc.).
6. Understanding of data center facilities management, equipment racking and cabinets, network cabling (structured, patching, fiber, modules).
7. Experience with mainstream Unified Communications Platforms for Business.
8. Experience with Cisco unified communications and collaboration architecture, experience with Cisco infrastructure and cloud based solutions.
