Service Engineering Stress Tech Spec III Composites DER / ODA Unit Member in  GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

The following unique skills are required:

1) A fundamental understanding of static stress analysis as it relates to sizing airframe structural repairs in both metallic and composite structure
2) The ability to effectively work with and support a multi-discipline team of engineers, mechanics, Tech Ops, Quality Control, upper management, etc.
3) Strong written and verbal communication and collaborative skills and the ability to effectively communicate the organization’s position with external and internal customers
4) Experience as a stress analyst in post-production environment or a production MRB stress engineer

5)Experience with Catia V5 Model based design

6) Applicant must be delegated as a DER or ODA Unit Member with composite repair authority in primary aircraft structure
* This position is an ODA Unit Member role and the ability to obtain delegations within the Gulfstream ODA in the future is required.*
 
The following unique skills are preferred:
1) Gulfstream engineering experience on G650 /G500 / G600 / G700 / G800 
2) Experience in fatigue analysis and damage tolerance analysis
3) Experience in the repair, analysis and approval of composite structure on in service aircraft and/or backshop articles
4) Experience in the repair and analysis of Landing Gear structure
5) Experience with airworthiness regulations in regards to major repairs or alterations of airframe parts and components and the requirements to find compliance when analyzing a repair
6) Practical hands on aircraft experience and problem solving.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope .

  2. Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities .

  3. Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge .

  4. Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas .

  5. Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost and schedule requirements .

  6. Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives .

  7. Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities .

  8. Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.

  2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
