About the Role 

This position is a project management and process improvement role that will work among the brightest minds within Gulfstream and our avionics’ supply chain on the world’s most advanced avionics. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on new product development specifically avionics and connected aircraft technologies. The person selected for this role will partner with our Flight Deck Innovation and Software Development Project teams to design, develop, and implement new technologies for our existing and new aircraft.

 

Scope of Role

  • This role will be responsible for providing supplier oversight and procurement support to the Flight Deck Innovation and Software Development Project teams across the Avionics Supply Chain, leading the commercial negotiations, and ensuring execution to the supplier contractual requirements in accordance to corporate timelines
  • Identify and lead projects to streamline, simplify, and modify our business practices to incorporate lessons learned
  • Plan, coordinate and lead Program Management and Technology Reviews
  • Influence small to large scale avionics suppliers to strengthen processes and collaboration with Gulfstream
  • Develop presentations and present to C-Suite Executives
  • Position is an individual contributor, but will be managing projects. 

 

Additional Insights 

Ideal candidates for this role will have preferably avionics software development and/or aerospace engineering. Experience in leading complex negotiations and contract management is also preferred.


 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in business administration or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Master's Degree preferred. 10 years related procurement and contract experience to include at least seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience or progressive procurement experience. Supervisory experience preferred..

Position Purpose:

Manages and controls the purchasing and strategic sourcing activities for the plant including but not limited to new product and continued business development. Provides guidance and supervision to purchasing personnel for the company. Researches, develops and implements cost-effective and efficient procedures to purchase more sophisticated commodities and services, requiring unique design, development or administrative effort in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Develops sources of supply and obtains information from suppliers concerning product specifications, price, delivery dates, etc. and ensures all applicable data is current at seller.
  2. Negotiates optimum delivery schedules and ensures best combination of price, quantity discount, product quality, standard terms and conditions; communicates with departments such as Program Office, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Planning, Product Support and/or Legal to ensure their requirements are met.
  3. Writes and administers definitive purchase orders, including terms and conditions, and enters into contracts with suppliers within budgetary limitations. .
  4. Monitors supplier performance and prepares reports and other records pertaining to items purchased, cost, delivery, product performance, and/or inventories. .
  5. Supports purchasing and sourcing activities and directs department quality control procedures.
  6. Manages direct strategic category relationships including execution against contractual requirements, new product introductions and continued business development.
  7. Manages existing supplier agreements and establishing and executing strategies for the sourcing and development of new suppliers.
  8. Manages project risk to ensure accurate supplier and material costs are utilized and represents procurement in Sourcing Strategy meetings.
  9. Responsible for direction of machined parts and/or offload materials.
  10. Coordinates purchasing objectives with all related company functions.
  11. Performs material tracing functions for all purchased items including action to achieve acceptable delivery, as well as constant current status of purchased parts at the supplier.
  12. Utilizes continuous improvement and best practices to drive results.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Significant expertise in dealing with complex procurements.
  2. Detailed knowledge in purchasing methods and techniques.
  3. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
