Education and Experience Requirements:
High School diploma/GED. A Q-Stamp is required if applicable to respective work area. Five (5) years painting/paint preparation experience.
Position Purpose:
Assuming a lead role in the paint area, effectively prepares and paints major sub-assemblies and other parts of aircraft in production according to specifications and schedule requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
1. Perform technical evaluation to establish sequence of operations and ensure correct method of manufacturing, assembly, installation, and detail components.
2. Troubleshoot any problem area concerning department tooling, production assembly, and aircraft systems.
3. Perform a variety of activities including preparation of surfaces, mixing paints, and painting aircraft, small parts, and various surfaces according to required specifications.
4. Check all work and ensure a defect free assembly prior to final inspection.
5. Apply specialty coatings, topcoats and clear coats; buffs out inclusions; completes new tasks with minimum impact to production schedule.
6. Instruct and assist other team members in interpretation of blueprints, work orders, sketches, and operation sheets to comply with requirements.
7. Maintain and use all logs and records for EPA reporting.
8. Monitor and record equipment readings (pressure, humidity, oven temp history gauges etc.).
9. Perform layout and masking as necessary.
10. Mix paints, primers, etc. according to specifications.
11. Paint major assemblies (including metal, fiberglass and composite material), detail parts, and apparatus related to ground support.
12. Strip paint and prepare surfaces as required.
13. Perform miscellaneous paint operations and applies decals.
14. Maintain a neat and orderly work area, supports the company 5S and Lean Initiative Programs and complies with all safety regulations.
15. Demonstrate Gulfstream Manufacturing competencies in the Employee Effectiveness Review.
Additional Functions:
1. Work closely with Senior Operations Coordinator and may assume limited duties in Coordinators absence.
2. Ensure good housekeeping and safety procedures.
3. Provide guidance and training to more junior members of the department.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
1. Requires knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in painting trade and methods of mixing paint colors.
2. Proficiency in current personal computer based software.
3. Extremely proficient in technical evaluation, application methods and processes.
4. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position.
5. Must be able to work any shift.
