Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, Aviation Maintenance or related curriculum or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Master's Degree preferred. 6 years managerial experience with accountability and ownership of employee relations activities, including but not limited to; writing and delivering performance reviews, making hiring and termination recommendations, making compensation recommendations, driving employee development, etc. in a technically related role (i.e. aviation maintenance, general manufacturing). Master's Degree in related curriculummay offset 2 years of experience requirement.

Position Purpose:

Provides direction and strategic oversight to a production manufacturing business unit to ensure that all aircraft and components are manufactured within FAA regulations. Directly responsible for developing strategic plans to ensure that cost, productivity, quality objectives/expectations and operational goals are met throughout the business unit.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Develops and manages annual budgets and long range requirements and ensures established corporate financial controls are met.
  2. Develops and implements efficiency enhancing objectives and long-range organizational goals.
  3. Encourages innovation and ensures awareness of best practices across the company and manufacturing industry. .
  4. Executes and ensures compliance to company policies and procedures and oversees performance improvements.
  5. Coordinates with other senior managers, directors and corporate management in engineering, operations, finance and other departments to ensure that schedules and budgets are met and problems are resolved. .
  6. Leads and champions complex projects working across multiple disciplines in order to meet organizational objectives.
  7. Enforces and sets standards for quality and monitors and provides corrective action for workmanship issues.
  8. Assigns production responsibilities, work plans and schedule requirements to department managers to ensure that all jobs are completed in a matter that satisfies FAA regulations.
  9. Oversees initiatives and manufacturing strategy for the dept(s) encompassing Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement philosophies and concepts. .
  10. Continually strives to increase the competitive edge in quality, productivity, timeliness and employee relations.
  11. Develops, reviews, and oversees implementation of facilities improvements for the purposes of process efficiencies, cellular manufacturing and lean management.
  12. Develops, maintains, and meets or exceeds requirements for a safe work environment; ensures that stringent housekeeping, 5S standards, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and safety procedures and practices are followed; ensures that tools/equipment meet safety requirements; leads trend and root cause analysis and accident investigations.
  13. Troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes and equipment already in operation while minimizing costs and preventing delivery delays. .
  14. Identifies and mitigates potential problems and conflicts in the areas of cost/employee relations/quality/productivity. Maintains positive employee relations by providing an inclusive work environment. .

Additional Functions:
  1. Serves as back-up for director. .
  2. Develops and maintains emergency action plans to ensure Business Continuity Plan are viable and can be executed in a timely, effective manner. .

  1. Must have demonstrated: leadership ability; business acumen; initiative; ability to work as a team player; ability to deliver results; ability to make decisions that support company objs/policies.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of lean mfg.
  3. Proficient in using Excel and PowerPoint.
