Scope of position: This is an Aircraft Systems Engineering Role; the candidate will be responsible for defining end to end aircraft system definitions, requirements and architectures. The role will entail capturing and decomposing aircraft functional requirements down to system, subsystem and items level designs. In this role the systems engineer provides a focal point for coordinating multiple equipment designs with internal systems groups. Successful applicants need to have an appreciation of the equipment level development, but the main focus of the role is integrating equipment together at an aircraft level to provide an aircraft system function. Integration to include design development, validation and verification. Requirements: • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents • Aerospace background with complex, integrated platforms, or experience with a wide range of aircraft systems, including Avionics, Electrical Power, Flight Controls, Mechanical Systems, Fuel Systems, Environmental Control Systems, and Powerplant • Able to analyze systems (electrical and mechanical), its interfaces and logic diagrams • Experience with Interface Control Documents ICDs, System Description Documents • Ability to guide development of working functional system models • Aircraft level experience, being able to summarize one or a combination of system failure events/effects at the aircraft level effect • Able to coordinate complex problems among various engineering groups • Knowledge of electrical systems, including discrete signals, power transmission and data buses • Strong verbal and written communications skills • Familiarity with Part 21 and Part 25 certification preferred • Experience with 14CFR 25.1701 and 25.1709 • Preferred Experience with ARP 4761 (Safety process) and how it supports and compliments systems engineering process • Familiarity with ARP 4754A • Familiarity with EWIS preferred Responsibility: • Assess the aircraft-level function(s) associated with each wire/EWIS component on the aircraft. Assessment includes detailed review of data on digital busses and how the data is utilized by consuming systems. • Assess aircraft-level effects due to wire/EWIS component failure. • Assess cumulative aircraft-level effect for combinations of wire/EWIS component failures. • Document findings in a comprehensive report which will be used to substantiate regulatory compliance. • Develop framework for Aircraft Level Functional modeling • Evaluate aircraft level architecture for multi-system integration in the early phases of development • Participate in change review boards to evaluate change impact to interfacing systems Personal Skills include: • Ability to lead a group of peers, to achieve technical solutions • Confident in presenting technical designs and/or system architectures • Self-motivated to organize and execute own tasks • Willing to identify improvements to processes


Education and Experience Requirements:

 

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job .

Works on engineering projects containing critical problems, the solution of which requires major technological advances and extensive related development

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions: 1. Responsible for an entire engineering project of major complexity within established scope 2. Makes technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities 3. Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge 4. Leads the development of innovative principles and ideas 5. Acts independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize technical product, cost and schedule requirements 6. Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives 7. Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities 8. Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements: 1. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
