As an Equipment Maintenance Technician 3 - Welding, you'll combine advanced welding, fabrication, mechanical, and maintenance skills to support aircraft production equipment. What You Will Do

  • Perform advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on aircraft production equipment.
  • Apply MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques to fabricate, repair, reinforce, and modify equipment and components.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to support welding, fabrication, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic system issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform equipment repairs with a high degree of quality and reliability to maintain operational performance.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance inspections according to established schedules.
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform equipment setup, calibration, and alignment activities as required.
  • Maintain backups of process parameters and PLC programs.
  • Enter maintenance activities, work orders, and reliability data into the CMMS system.
  • Recommend equipment modifications, repairs, or component replacements to improve performance and reliability.
  • Submit requests for critical spare parts and assist with inventory management activities.
  • Partner with production, engineering, and leadership teams to support manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with equipment acceptance testing and training activities.
  • Support welding-related projects that improve equipment functionality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

What You Will Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years of experience working with electrical controls and mechanical applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting aircraft production equipment or aerospace manufacturing operations preferred.
  • A 2-year technical degree may offset one year of required experience.
  • Strong welding experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
  • Valid American Welding Society (AWS) certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Experience with fabrication, equipment repair, and welding-related maintenance activities.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen-Bradley and Siemens preferred).
  • CNC equipment experience preferred, including Mazak, Mori Seiki, Fryer, Alpha Harrison, Broetje, or Kuka equipment.
  • GSE equipment experience preferred, including Hobart, Unitron, Tronair, or Lektro Tug equipment.
  • Experience replacing spindles, ball screws, linear guideways, bearings, and performing hydraulic repairs.
  • Knowledge of machine alignments; laser alignment experience is a plus.
  • Experience aligning turrets and installing ball screws is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Unique Skills:

Preferred candidates should possess a valid American Welding Society (AWS) certification and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in common welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. Candidates must also be capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to support fabrication, assembly, and repair activities effectively.


 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Position Purpose:

Under minimal supervision provides advanced experience with respect to electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems for troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades and preventative maintenance to all aircraft related production equipment.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Diagnoses cause of electrical and mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and apply corrective action to resolve re-occurring issues.
  2. Proactively conducts Preventive and Predictive Maintenance inspections and performs required. duties in accordance with recommended schedules.
  3. Performs repairs and corrective maintenance to equipment with a high degree of quality and reliability so that the equipment is capable of operating within the required. specifications.
  4. Performs setup and calibrations on scheduled intervals for all aircraft related production equipment.
  5. Regularly performs backups of process parameters and PLC programs for all equipment.
  6. Daily input of required. data in CMMS system for machine reliability and control.
  7. Ability to implement project objectives on key pieces of automated equipment with minimal guidance.
  8. Recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment components which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
  9. Submits parts request on critical spares identified as non- stock items.

Additional Functions:
  1. Interfaces daily with key Management and Production personnel regarding all Automated Equipment. .
  2. Assists with Engineering in all acceptance testing and training. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Ability to work any shift.
  2. Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls aspects of factory automation systems and the integration of devices used.
  3. Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley & Siemens Controls preferred).
  4. Background in CNC Equipment (Mazak, Mori Seiki, Fryer, Alpha Harrison, Broetje, Kuka preferred).
  5. Background in GSE Equipment (Hobart, Unitron, Tronair, Lektro Tug preferred).
  6. Must be able to read electrical schematics and blue prints.
  7. Working knowledge of replacing spindles, ball screws, linear guide ways, bearings, hydraulics repairs, and precision machine alignments (Laser Alignment experience a plus).
  8. Experience in the alignment of turrets and the installation of ball screws is a plus.
  9. Working knowledge of PC based Microsoft office. Experience with computerized maintenance management software relevant to spare parts management, work order creation, and Preventive Maintenance preferred.
