Job Summary
The Avionics/Electrical Systems Engineer within MRB Engineering provides direct support to aircraft manufacturing, test, and flight operations by evaluating and resolving avionics and electrical system discrepancies on Gulfstream large‑cabin aircraft. This role requires strong analytical capability, sound engineering judgment, and effective communication to ensure timely and compliant dispositions.
Engineers in this role analyze system faults, interpret design intent, and collaborate closely with Operations, Flight Test, Design Engineering and Quality to develop solutions that maintain airworthiness and support ongoing certification and entry‑into‑service activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed flight data analysis to improve troubleshooting of aircraft electrical systems and support data‑driven decision‑making for system investigations.
- Develop solutions to technical challenges of varying scope while ensuring adherence to established Company and FAA policies.
- Collaborate with MRB engineering teams to coordinate fault isolation and resolve issues affecting aircraft build, test, and delivery.
- Communicate emerging issues, trends, and technical insights to Electrical Systems and Avionics Design Engineering groups.
- Update, refine, and maintain test specifications for Avionics and Electrical systems on large‑cabin aircraft.
- Interpret engineering drawings and support the correction of discrepancies identified during aircraft assembly and testing.
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing, test teams, and external suppliers to ensure proper system installation, integration, and operation.
- Work closely with Gulfstream Flight Operations personnel including pilots to share updates on recurring or newly identified system issues.
Desired / Unique Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior Avionics or Electrical Systems experience with Gulfstream or another aerospace OEM preferred.
- Experience in a production and/or aircraft test environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Basic understanding of wire harness design, assembly, and installation.
- Experience analyzing test data to support design decisions or troubleshoot system faults.
- Strong fault‑isolation and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with digital communication protocols such as CAN, ARINC, or similar.
- Experience with technical writing (e.g., specifications, requirements, test procedures).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with programming languages like Python, MATLAB.

- Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred.
- The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
