Gulfstream Loads & Dynamics is looking for an experienced individual to join our Dynamic Loads and Flutter team. The right person for this position is self-motivated and team-oriented, willing to work independently while also mentoring and providing direction to other members of the team. You will gain experience across all aspects of the dynamic loads and flutter discipline while operating at the leading edge of the aviation industry. In addition to analysis, you’ll be able to get hand-on experience with ground vibration and flight testing as we work through our certification programs. You’ll also have opportunities to develop and demonstrate your technical leadership as we progress towards certification and continue to push the boundaries of business aviation.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Perform aircraft flutter analysis for nominal, parametric, failure, and repair scenarios.

• Assess aircraft flutter margins and harmonize all levels of company and regulatory requirements to guarantee a safe aircraft aeroelastic design.

• Generate and analyze aircraft structural dynamic responses and corresponding load distributions for tuned and continuous gust conditions.

• Generate and analyze aircraft structural dynamic responses and corresponding load distributions for engine fan blade out & windmilling conditions.

• Document completed analysis and findings in engineering reports for aircraft certification.

• Support as required all relevant customer interfaces including Flight Dynamics, Structures, Mass Properties, Flight Control Systems, Flight Test, and Certification groups.

• Collaborate with internal and external customers on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations

 

 WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TEAM

• Extensive knowledge of aircraft aeroelasticity principles and concepts

• General knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 requirements and certification

• Advanced knowledge and experience in aircraft aeroleasticity & structural dynamics modeling

• Experience with preparation for and execution of aircraft ground vibration tests

• Experience with preparation for and execution of aircraft flight flutter testing

• Advanced knowledge and experience with MSC Nastran and Patran

• Knowledge and experience with Matlab and Python for analytical and post test data processing

• Knowledge and experience with Linux

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with prior experience in a project leadership role preferred

• An ability to clearly and concisely convey technical concepts to all technical and management levels

 

 NICE TO HAVE

• Advanced degree in Aerospace or related Engineering

• Knowledge and experience with engine fan blade out and windmilling dynamic analysis

• Experience with aeroservoelasticity

• Knowledge and experience with one or more commercial or NASA CFD analysis toolsets

• Experience interfacing with engine manufacturers/suppliers

Extensive knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 regulations, preferably with prior experience as a DER or Engineer AR for Loads and Flutter or a desire to become one

• Experience with software development and version control software

• Experience with developing and analyzing loads on aircraft with a fly by wire control system


 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required. 13 yrs specific technical discipline or 15 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters and 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

  6. Works under consultative direction; uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives .
  7. Develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities .
  8. Conceives and plans investigation of broad areas of importance for which engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program .

Other Requirements:
  1. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
  2. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
