Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent required. 12 years related experience. Management experience in processes, procedures, and project mgmt, as well as, experience in correctly applying the various FAA certification methods to a given project is mandatory.

Position Purpose:

The Gulfstream ODA requires all certification projects are in compliance with FAA regulations, policies, guidance and directives. This position will have the responsibilities, accountability and authority to successfully manage specific new or modified Type Certificate (TC) design approval programs, post production Supplemental Type Certificate, Major Repair and Major Alteration, and Parts Manufacturing Approvals in compliance with all FAA requirements.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. The strategic challenge of the Director ODA Programs is to successfully create and manage specific design approval programs in adherence to all Gulfstream ODA approved process and procedures.
  2. Having specific program/project responsibility, the Director ODA Programs will act on behalf of the Gulfstream ODA Lead Administrator and the Directors, ODA Enterprise Management to ensure the correct certification method is applied and compliance to all regulatory requirements is achieved. .
  3. The Gulfstream ODA ability to assume increased delegation from the FAA will be a function of building trust and confidence in the organization's adherence to processes, procedures and documentation as demonstrated in project execution.

Other Requirements:
  1. Knowledge of the Gulfstream ODA Operations Manual and all supporting documents.
  2. If FAA authority as an ODA Administrator is required, the FAA will participate in the appointment process after candidate selection by Gulfstream.
  3. Project complexities include research and development of new technology, design changes focused on correcting service difficulties or design improvements, simple alterations and repairs requiring minimal or no approval, repetitive type projects where previous designs are reused and reapproved, and highly complex projects involving alterations/repairs requiring special certification activities involving multiple FAA offices. The program/projects applications include new type design development, new designs to existing type design and minor changes to existing type designs. Post production project applications include the full Gulfstream product line as well as the product lines of other airframe manufacturers (e.g. Dassault Aviation, Bombardier, Cessna, Hawker-Beechcraft).
  4. The Director or ODA Programs must understand the various certification methods, which method best fits the project scope and when a specific certification method must be applied based upon FAA requirement.
  5. In addition to the projects listed above experience in validation of type designs and changes to type designs by foreign civil aviation authorities is desired.

A credit history check from a national credit bureau will be conducted for all candidates for this position including new hires and current employees seeking promotion or transfer.
