Education and Experience Requirements:

 

Bachelor's Degree preferably in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or business. Master's Degree in Business, Marketing or Journalism preferred. Ten (10) years experience in public relations, media relations or corporate communications. At least five years of experience leading a public relations or communications team; preferably for an original equipment manufacturer in aviation or other related or regulated industry.


Position Purpose:
This role is responsible for developing and executing the worldwide public and media relations strategy for Gulfstream and supporting its strategic business priorities through communications. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer and serving as a member of the marketing leadership team, the Director, Public and Media Relations, is a senior and influential role that works closely with senior leadership, the broader marketing team and the overall Gulfstream organization.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions: 1. Develop and execute a worldwide public and media relations strategy in support of the overall marketing strategy and company strategic priorities. 2. Create comprehensive public and media relations communications plans that reflect business priorities by leveraging existing media relationships and cultivating new ones. 3. Lead and oversee the creation of relevant, compelling, engaging and brand-aligned earned and social media content to amplify brand messages and marketing campaign activity. Proactively develop and practice crisis response plans. 4. Serve as the company spokesperson and Gulfstream communications lead with parent company General Dynamics; provide support for investor relations communications. 5. Develop news releases, key messages, leadership team speeches, talking points, presentations, media statements and responses. Provide communications guidance, recommendations and training to the senior leadership team. 6. Lead marketing quality assurance by maintaining strong working relationships with subject matter experts and providing astute, relevant and informed feedback on all external marketing materials. 7. Collaborate with other teams, external vendors, suppliers and industry organizations to ensure consistency of corporate messaging both internally and externally. 8. Find and support media interviews and executive speaking engagements that complement and enforce messaging. 9. Ensure strong return on investment by regularly evaluating metrics; pivot, as necessary to increase ROI. 10. Mentor, develop and lead a five-person team of media relations and quality professionals. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements: 1. Individual will have excellent writing, editing and speaking skills with expertise in Associated Press Style. 2. Working knowledge of NTSB processes; familiarity with accident investigations. 3. Ability to help others take complex technical information and translate it into interesting yet straight-forward content ideally suited for media use. 4. Strong strategic thinker with the ability to foresee and ameliorate risks. 5. Proven performance working under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
