Job Description
- Under minimal direction, designs, develops, implements and audits industrial hygiene programs and processes at Gulfstream sites as assigned. Reviews programs and processes for effectiveness and makes recommendations for program and process improvements.
- Investigates and gathers industrial hygiene data (air samples, noise measurements, wipe samples), using a variety of test equipment and sampling methods on conditions and processes utilized in the workplace.
- Conducts field studies and collects samples of dust (concentration), chemical agents (fumes, mists, vapors, and gas), heavy metals, noise and radiation for analyses in accordance with National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health air sampling methods and internal Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conducts indoor air quality investigations to include air and wipe testing for mold, measurement of environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, organic vapors) and visual inspections of work areas and heating and ventilation equipment and recommends corrective actions.
- Compiles and analyzes data; prepares reports; takes corrective measures to safeguard work environment and recommends corrective actions (engineering, administrative, personal protective equipment controls) to ensure maximum employee protection.
- Communicates sampling results to affected employees.
- Investigates work related illnesses as required. and recommends corrective actions.
- Maintains and calibrates test equipment.
- Keeps current on governmental regulations dealing with occupational health hazards and diseases. Develops compliance programs for regulatory requirements.
- Works with EHS personnel and other support staff to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and equipment.
- Maintains frequent contact with employees plant wide to gather information on exposures/illnesses and explain test results. Occasional contact with other health professionals to keep current on recent site EHS developments.
