Unique Skills:
Ideal candidate should have demonstrated expertise in aircraft flammability certification with extensive knowledge of 14 CFR 25.853 compliance, material qualification, delegated approval authority processes, certification planning, regulatory interpretation, testing, and cross-functional leadership supporting aircraft development and certification programs. Test witnessing should include 25.853(a)(c) and (h), 25.856(a), 25.1713(c).
1. Certification Strategy Development -
- Ability to develop certification approaches that minimize testing while maintaining regulatory compliance.
2. Delegated Authority Experience
- FAA DER, AR, ODA, or equivalent delegated authority experience
- Ability to approve compliance findings independently
3. Risk-Based Compliance Assessment
- Capability to identify compliance risks early in the design phase and drive resolution before certification testing.
4. Material Failure Investigation
- Experience performing root cause analysis on flammability test failures and developing corrective actions.
5. Supplier Qualification & Audit Experience
- Ability to assess supplier material data, qualification packages, and manufacturing changes that could impact flammability compliance.
6. Configuration Change Impact Analysis
- Understanding how engineering changes affect certified flammability baselines and approval requirements.
7. Regulatory Interpretation
- Ability to engage FAA/EASA authorities and resolve ambiguous regulatory requirements.
