Applied Aerodynamics Engineer - TS I in GAC Savannah
Unique Skills:
Required:
-Thorough knowledge of Fluid Mechanics.
-Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses techniques, structured and unstructured grid techniques
-Experience in the generation and pre-/post-processing of CAD geometric models using CATIA V5 or Rhinoceros.
-Experience generating spatial meshes for CFD solutions around complex geometries and flow domains. Options include (but not limited to): VGRID, GridTool, and Pointwise.
-Analysis of fluid flows using high-fidelity Navier-Stokes CFD solvers, such as: USM3D, FUN3D, NSU3D, and STAR-CCM+ highly desired.
-Application of techniques for post-processing and visualization of complex fluid flow solutions using scientific visualization packages such as Tecplot.
-Proficient in one or more programming languages to generate tools and scripts in support to the work. Options include (but not limited to): Python, Matlab, bash, or FORTRAN, C/C++, and Java.
-UNIX/Linux experience required.
-Good communication skills, including preparation and presentation of briefings on technical results for different levels within the organization and interaction with internal clients and suppliers.
Preferred:
-Industry experience in Applied Aerodynamics supporting airplane production, performing analyses and experiments to resolve aerodynamic issues.
-Airframe aerodynamic design and optimization methods required.
-Experience with developing and/or running optimization codes coupled with CFD.
-Experience supporting wind tunnel testing, flight testing, including data reduction/analysis desired.
-Understanding of FAA/EASA transport category aircraft certification regulations in general (Part 25).

- Advanced degree in engineering related field preferred.
- The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
