Airworthiness Engineering Specialist II in GAC Savannah

DUTIES: Guide and independently perform a variety of engineering and supportive tasks associated with the Compliance Assurance Organization, Organization Designation Authority, Federal Aviation Administration, European Union Aviation Safety Agency, and other foreign civil aviation authorities. Guide, generate, process, and support the review of engineering documentation required for certification programs from project start to closure. Prepare, develop, and review complex certification plans describing the project scope, certification deliverables, means of compliance, and test/conformity requirements. Coordinate with EAR to resolve issues with certification deliverables and 8100-9 findings. Prepare TIA pre-requisites, draft TIAs, and open projects and PR memos. Host pre-flight board meetings with the FAA. Independently prepare Summary Compliance Reports for more complex projects. Be responsible for tracking project task assignments, status, and estimated complete dates as assigned. Develop and present briefings on certification strategy and status to program leadership as assigned. Develop Type Certificates (TCs) and Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) FCAA validation deliverables including ROM development, application, and classification. Be responsible for SSD & SEI effectivity, schedule development, meeting agendas, presentation coordination for generation and review with Subject Matter Experts, and FCAA responses. Ensure publication of minutes and actions. Develop validation work plans. Be responsible for TC and STC internal coordination and action tracking. Coordinate company responses for issue papers, CRIs, CAIs, and FAA responses. Coordinate reviews of the draft VTC, VTCDS, and final AFMS. Coordinate responses for the closures of validation projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field required. Ten years of experience in job offered or related position required, including any experience with: the phases of TC, post-TC, and STC certification projects, as well as the associated FAA Orders and policies; the ODA Procedures Manual and the key differences in processes between different types of projects; Part 25 regulations and supporting regulatory guidance material; using regulations to drive design and system redundancy requirements; certification testing processes and deliverables; airworthiness limitations and associated regulations and operating requirements; differing certification bases across production models; determining design changes (major/minor) and what systems and regulations may be impacted by those design changes; validation procedures, project classifications, and significant standard differences for EASA, Brazil, Canada, and China; design and systems knowledge across multiple models; with the requirements and potential issues applicable for new/novel technologies; and with Airworthiness & Certification System (ACES). In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and ten years of experience, Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and eight years of the above-requested experience or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field and six years of the above-requested experience.
