Unique Skills:

DUTIES: Execute engineering projects of significant complexity, with predetermined scope by providing direction to a team of engineering employees with diverse skills or multi-disciplines within a single department. Exercise mature engineering judgment in determining appropriate actions, defining and planning tasks, and developing technical performance requirements. Supervise the activities of a team of subordinate employees; contribute to performance reviews, coordinate activities for assigned personnel, establish and communicate clear performance expectations. Optimize technical product quality within cost and schedule requirements. Independently conceive, plan and conduct research into problem areas of considerable complexity. Provide technical guidance to ensure quality of product and schedule. Train new engineers in methods and procedures. May be called upon to assist in budget preparation and employee evaluations. Maintain a current knowledge of developments and applications of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or a related field and 8 years of experience designing primary and secondary aircraft structures, including international experience and demonstrated familiarity with domestic and foreign regulatory requirements relevant to aircraft design. 8 years of experience performing initial design sizing and Aircraft stress analysis PSA certification required. 8 years of experience performing operations in CATIA V5, including 3-D modeling, layout modeling, installations, dimensions and tolerances, and CATIA certification required. 4 years of experience implementing projects and completed project management training. 3 years of experience integrating structures components for military aircraft. Will accept a Master's degree in Engineering or a related field plus 6 years of the above-listed experience or a Ph.D. in Engineering or a related field plus 4 years of the above-listed experience. Candidates lacking Bachelor's degree must have 10 years of work experience, including experience listed above.


Education and Experience Requirements:

 

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job and 8 years related engineering experience. Master's Degree Experience credit considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years or Ph.D. Experience credit considered for related advance degrees limited to 4 years. 1 year supervisory or broad managerial responsibility.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides technical guidance to ensure quality of product and schedule 6. Trains new engineers in methods and procedures 7. May be called upon to assist in budget preparation and employee evaluations

3. Faulty decisions could cause delays in schedules, and inefficient use of resources.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills.
5. Interacts frequently with subordinates or external/cross-functional contacts on exchange of technical information.
6. Supports budget for assigned area.
7. Has direct employee supervision responsibilities.
