Lead NDT Technician

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 8 years technically related experience. A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred. Repairman certificate preferred. ASQ certificate (American Society for Quality) preferred.

Position Purpose:

In a team oriented environment, lead technicians to ensure Gulfstream meets all testing design requirements in the most efficient manner

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible for leading, planning and coordinating departmental projects. .
2. Provide technical guidance, coordinate and lead subordinate level personnel to perform tests according to priorities, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
3. Ensure assigned personnel have necessary resources to complete assigned task. .
4. Assist the Supervisor with training, scheduling and prioritizing manpower, and approving timekeeping.
5. Use and develop testing methods that support GAC Manufacturing, Service Center, NPD and Experimental programs.
6. Clearly and tactfully communicate all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely and efficient manner.
7. Contribute directly to the training and evaluation of employees within scope of responsibility.
8. Maintain equipment and assures calibration for tests to be performed.
9. Maintain inventory control of area tooling, consumables, etc.
10. Perform and provide assistance/guidance for duties in support of Customer aircraft.
11. Assist the Supervisor in promoting/tracking departmental continuous improvement objectives.
12. Successfully interface with internal/external customers responding to needs and providing results.
13. Ensure area safety and encourage technicians to continuously develop safety improvements.
14. Support revision and development of area Standard Operating procedures.

Additional Functions:

1. Five (5) years NDT Level II experience on Gulfstream aircraft supporting airworthiness decisions for NDT Group Lead. .
2. Five (5) years of Lab testing experience for the Lab Group Lead. .
3. Five (5) years of Calibration experience for the Cal Group Lead. .
4. MAUS-V, Omni-scan, hardness testing experience preferred. .
5. Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation, GAMPS, Mil-Specs, ASTM standards, Maintenance Manuals, shop mathematics, and QA system requirements. .

Perform other duties as assigned.
