As an Industrial Engineer 2, you will play a key role in improving service/manufacturing operations through facility planning, process optimization, capital project evaluation, and Lean continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers a unique combination of engineering analysis, 3D facility design, and business case development that directly impacts production efficiency, safety, quality, and future growth across the site.

 

What You Will Do

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, and material presentation strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D facility models and AutoCAD building layouts to support production planning, department rearrangements, facility expansions, and material flow improvements.
  • Design plant layouts, workstation configurations, and material handling solutions that enhance safety, ergonomics, quality, and operational performance.
  • Build and present business cases for capital expenditures, including equipment purchases, facility investments, tooling acquisitions, technology upgrades, and operational improvement projects.
  • Perform economic and cost-benefit analyses to support make-versus-buy decisions, manufacturing changes, tooling requests, and capital investment recommendations.
  • Partner with operations leadership, manufacturing teams, engineering, facilities, and supply chain organizations to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate and justify new equipment, machinery, and facility enhancements that support production, quality, safety, and sustainability objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional projects from concept through implementation while ensuring cost, schedule, and performance objectives are achieved.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to drive waste reduction, process standardization, and operational excellence.
  • Support workplace design, manpower planning, and methods improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain tooling requirements, tool control processes, and FOD prevention measures.
  • Apply 3D printing technologies to create shop aids, product protection solutions, and other manufacturing support tools.
  • Support safety, ergonomic, sustainability, and business continuity initiatives across the facility.
  • Audit engineering outputs and process compliance to ensure adherence to established procedures and standards.
  • Assist in training and mentoring less experienced Industrial Engineering team members.

 

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 18+ months of Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Engineering, or related technical experience.
  • Experience developing facility layouts, manufacturing workflows, and process improvement solutions.
  • AutoCAD experience with 3D modeling and facility/floor plan layout design preferred.
  • Experience developing financial analyses and supporting capital expenditure justification and business case development preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable improvement recommendations.
  • Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively across multiple functional disciplines.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, quality systems, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop mathematics.
  • Experience using engineering and business software applications, including AutoCAD and other applicable design or manufacturing tools.
  • Lean Specialist certification or higher preferred.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related curriculum or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Eighteen (18) months Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Engineering or related technical experience.

Position Purpose:

Under minimal supervision, provides Industrial Engineering support through the application of classical and Lean Industrial Engineering principles. Assures assigned projects are accomplished within projected or approved cost.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Conduct analysis with area Management and support staff to establish and maintain daily work activities.
  2. Conduct analysis with area Management, support staff and Material Control to design and maintain part presentation requirements and procedures.
  3. Identify equipment, machinery, and facilities acquisition including justifications and economic analysis to support operational, Safety and Quality initiatives.
  4. Development and maintain Tool Box requirements and contents to include tool control, FOD prevention measures tool requirements matched to area tasks.
  5. Apply 3D print capability to assist in resolution of technical issues (shop aids, Protect the Product, etc.).
  6. Provide business case analysis in support of projects to include make/buy, MCR, Engineering Changes, Tooling requests.
  7. Support all Safety, Sustainability and Ergonomic initiatives as required.
  8. Develop and Implement plant layout, process flow, and material handling techniques.
  9. Support area Management in generating orders/requests for Tooling including management of tool priorities.
  10. Investigate, evaluate, and implement facilities expansions, department rearrangements, new technologies and manufacturing techniques, and employee suggestions.
  11. Perform audit of co-workers output based on defined requirements and procedures. Must demonstrate knowledge of IE policies and procedures.
  12. With minimal supervision, lead/coordinate the implementation of projects between multiple organizations.

Additional Functions:
  1. Develop and maintain work place methods and manpower requirements. .
  2. Assist in the training and development of entry-level industrial engineering personnel. .
  3. As required, aid in development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plan. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Proven knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles.
  2. Ability to influence across functional disciplines.
  3. Must be knowledgeable about Engineering configuration requirements, tooling, quality control, plant safety, blueprint reading, and shop math.
  4. Demonstrated ability to operate computerized equipment, such as personal computers, CATIA, etc.
  5. Lean Specialist certification or higher preferred.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
