About the Position:
Join the Aircraft Systems Engineering team Fall 2026 internship! The System Engineering (SE) team has the big picture outlook of the aircraft and its systems, involved with the highlevel thinking of how the systems will functionally integrate with the aircraft and understand the behavior well before there is hardware or software is in the loop. If your preference is abstract thinking and foresight and not running analysis most of your work hours, then SE might be great experience to explore.
Our team develop the processes to manage aircraft level requirements, maintain a close technical relationship and understanding of each of the critical systems on the aircraft (e.g., Avionics, Flight Controls, Engines, Electrical, etc.,), conducts audits with the regulators (e.g., FAA or EASA) to demonstrate compliance with SE principles (e.g., were the requirements validated in the design - methods not typically covered in undergradute courses).
1. Will learn how Systems Engineering principles of Requirements Management, Validation, Verification, Change Management, Process Assurance and Functional Integration are used in the design and development of aircraft and its systems.
2. Will learn how Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) methods apply to Requirements Development
3. Support current SE processes and assist in driving their use for future projects and programs.
4. Support coordination meetings with the aircraft system owners, to ensure the processes are understood and adhered in accordance with the program objectives.
5. Will learn about Requirements Management databases and tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Siemens Teamcenter, MATLAB (System Composer), etc.,)
6. Be familiar with MATLAB and how to create models in the application.
