About the Position

Join the Materials & Processes Engineering (M&P) Metallics Team supporting Gulfstream's fleet of business aircraft.

The M&P Metallics organization is responsible for developing, qualifying, and supporting all metallic materials and manufacturing processes used throughout Gulfstream aircraft.

As a Collegiate Associate, you will work alongside engineers supporting metallic materials used in primary and secondary aircraft structures.

Responsibilities may include laboratory testing, process development, material characterization, manufacturing support, engineering investigations, and qualification activities.

Projects may involve:

Metallic material testing and evaluation
Mechanical property characterization
Material qualification and certification support

Metallic manufacturing process development
Root cause investigations and failure analysis
Engineering documentation and technical report generation
Production and supplier support activities
Data analysis and test result interpretation

The team collaborates closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Structural Analysis, Research & Development, and Operations to ensure the successful implementation of metallic technologies across Gulfstream programs.

Education and Other Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following disciplines: 
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Materials Science & Engineering
  • Materials Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Metallurgy / Metallurgical Engineering
• Must be available to work on-site in Savannah, GA during the Spring 2027.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 (without rounding); must be listed on resume.

Desired Skills:
Understanding of metallic materials and manufacturing processes

Knowledge of engineering laboratory practices and testing methods
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Technical data analysis using Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar tools
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with engineering drawings and specifications
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Hobbies/Interests:
Design and fabrication of metallic components / structure for AIAA Design/Build/Fly, Formula SAE, Rocketry competitions

Experience with metallic raw materials, manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing (3D printing), etc.
