Airworthiness Certification Engineering Specialist III in  GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

This position supports the CAO International Certification Office, which engages with international authorities to facilitate the sales, entry into service, and operation of Gulfstream aircraft around the world.  This role provides opportunity for exposure to numerous functional areas across the company while developing a high-level understanding of the entire Gulfstream fleet.  Additional experience and skills should include:

 

  1. In-depth knowledge of design, systems, and certification, preferably across Gulfstream models
  2. Detailed knowledge of Part 21, Part 25 certification processes, as well as TC, post-TC, and STC certification projects
  3. Experience working applicant positions on certification issues and compliance approaches
  4. Experience working with FAA and other international aviation authorities on validation implementation procedures, project classification, safety emphasis items and standards differences
  5. Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite including SharePoint and Project
  7. Demonstrated project management ability
  8. Responsible for technical direction to completion of project milestones
  9. Strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  10. Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables
  11. Strong collaboration and leadership ability


 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in a discipline relevant to the position required. 13 years specific certification experience or 18 years broad engineering experience. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for successful planning and completion of a variety of engineering and supportive tasks associated with the Compliance Assurance Organization, Organization Designation Authority, FAA, EASA and other foreign civil aviation authorities. Responsibilities include leading, generating, processing, and supporting the review of engineering documentation required. for certification programs from project start to closure.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Reviews and approves group deliverables (certification plans, summary compliance reports, correspondence, noise data sheets, etc.) .
  2. Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations for problem solution through application of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in areas where engineering precedents are lacking.
  3. Is a recognized leader and an authority in multiple areas of certification; presents certification requirement recommendations to multi-disciplinary design teams and upper management .
  4. Researches and determines impact of NPRMs or potential changes to guidance material (industry or regulatory) to apply to future design development .
  5. Recommends strategy for group processes, tools, deliverables and responsibilities.
  6. Develop and present briefings on certification strategy, status to organization leadership and regulatory authorities, as assigned.
  7. Develops work methods and standard operating procedures for certification methods, processes, and tools. Recommend improvements to existing processes.
  8. Authors issue papers and assists in preparation of applicant response.
  9. Participates in industry conferences, working groups, and/or committees related to aviation certification as assigned.
  10. Utilizes delegated authorities under the GAC ODA (Engineering Authorized Representative, Alternate Administrator, etc.) as applicable.
  11. Participates in FCAA validation activities and reviews of deliverables as a SME.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
  1. Broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge in certification.
  2. In-depth knowledge of FAA Orders 8110.4, 8100.15, and Gulfstream ODA Procedures Manual.
  3. Understands GAC safety system.
