Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Fire science, occupational health & safety or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 10 years Fire Safety, Fire Sciences or related field to include at least 5 years basic firefighting experience and experience with 3rd party agencies and vendors.

Position Purpose:

Direct activities and personnel that are involved in fire safety equipment and fire safety systems at all Savannah facilities while acting as Consultant to all other Gulfstream facilities on fire safety issues. Inspect, maintain, and ensure operability of all fire systems, alarms and safety equipment as directed by GAC policy, OSHA regulations and NFPA, National Fire Protection Association, Administrative Codes and Loss Prevention Recommendations by the Insurance Carriers. Plan, implement and coordinate fire system programs to eliminate and minimize structural damage from accidental discharge causing financial loss. Partner with management to mitigate/reduce industrial property damage, and property loss. Monitor compliance programs to conform to corporate and regulatory standards and ensure employees are operating in a safe manner as directed by these standards.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Monitor/maintain/coordinate direct contact with fire safety staff and 3rd party fire safety agencies such as local fire authorities, 3rd party insurance representatives and vendors who provide services and maintenance on fire protection equipment and materials .
2. Directs & manages all sites for NFPA 25 compliance to meet requirements for inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems.
3. Ensures all fire incidents/accidents are appropriately investigated and corrective actions are implemented .
4. Directs the Inspections of facility fire protection systems and all major components to include all Kitchen Systems.
5. In SAV oversee Halon Engineered systems, computer rooms and engineering vaults .
6. Evaluate and analyze Loss Prevention reports to prevent loss possibilities and recommend corrective action to management based upon trend data .
7. Coordinate with Real Estate, Facility Engineering, and Industrial Engineering groups on plant layouts, upgrades as it addresses Life Safety means of egress, Fire System design and maintenance .
8. Maintain daily contact with personnel to ensure adherence to fire safety requirements. Meet with contractors and vendors to exchange information on fire safety equipment or hot work permits and confine space requirements.
9. Organize fire drills and provide staff training on emergency evacuation and fire prevention.
10. Regulatory Compliance & Standards Alignment: OSHA (29 CFR 1910/1926) NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 1, 10, 13, 25, 72, 101) international Fire Code (IFC) and local fire ordinances All sites .
11. Managing fire safety for large-scale building construction .
12. Oversee design of facilities/utilities/infrastructure systems. Performs analysis, communicates across functions and disciplines, and serves as SME in design reviews.
13. Coordinate fire inspections and corrective actions across regions .
14. Ensures approved vendors are used internationally .
15. FAA & Aviation Regulatory Alignment .
16. Hangar‑Specific Fire Risk Management .
17. Participate in Management of Change for aircraft programs, tooling, or hangar configuration changes .
18. Serve as primary technical interface with FM loss prevention engineers and Zurich Risk Engineering .
19. Incorporate insurer recommendations into fire standards, Hangar design criteria .
20. Coordinate insurer reviews of Acceptance testing and modifications .
21. Ensure insurer recommendations are Risk‑ranked, formally documented and tracked to closure .

Additional Functions:

1. Maintain required. professional licensure pertinent to respective programs. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

1. Fire System, Fire equipment and materials training, usage and proper maintenance.
2. Knowledge of fire protection/suppression systems and equipment, firefighting procedures, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements and 101 Life Safety codes.
3. Strong knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Local Fire codes and regulations.
4. Strong knowledge of fire safety insurance policies, and fire safety equipment inspection and maintenance.
